In 1954, Beizhen Normal School was set up.
In 1958, Beizhen Normal College underwent reconstruction.
In 1983, Binzhou Normal College was renamed, becoming one of the earliest teacher colleges in Shandong province and even in China.
During the years from 1999 to 2003, Binzhou Supply and Marketing Technical School, Binzhou Institute of Education, Binzhou Radio and Television University, Huimin Normal School, Boxing Normal School were merged into Binzhou Teachers College.
On September 30, 2001, Binzhou Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government made the decision to initiate preparations for the construction of Binzhou University.
On August 8, 2002, Binzhou Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government held the foundation ceremony for the construction project of Binzhou University (preparation).
In August, 2003, the overall relocation to the new site took place.
On March 27, 2004, the evaluations of members of the university establishment’s review committee were unanimously endorsed.
On May 17, 2004, the Ministry of Education granted approval for the transformation of Binzhou Normal College into Binzhou University.
On November 21, 2023, the Ministry of Education approved the renaming of Binzhou University to Shandong University of Aeronautics.
