Established in 2000, the Yellow River Delta Culture Research Institute of Binzhou University (the “Institute”) is a scientific research institution at division level. In November 2006, the Institute was approved as “the Yellow River Delta Culture Research Bae” by Shandong Planning Office of Social Science, and has since then become the only research base at province level featured by the Yellow River delta culture, economy and society. In 2011, the “Yellow River Delta Culture” was accepted by Shandong Provincial Department of Culture as a key discipline of culture, art and science in Shandong Province during the 12th “Five Year Plan”.

       At present, we have 17 full and part-time professional researchers working for the Yellow River Delta Culture Institute. Therein, 11 hold senior professional titles, 12 hold master or doctorate degrees, 2 are postgraduate mentors and 1 doctoral supervisor, 1 enjoy special government allowances from the State Department and 1 is professional who makes a great achievement for Binzhou City, Professor Zhenfeng Li is the director of the Institute, and Professor Jingli Li acts as the leader of subjects.

        The Institute adhered to the combination of teaching, scientific research and social service of regional economic development base, and adhere to the knowledge innovation, technological innovation and regional innovation. Grounded in the reality problems of cultural, economic and social development of Shandong province and in the Yellow River Delta, the Institute carried out innovative theory research and development of the cultural industry innovation research and actively serve the construction and development of Shandong Peninsula Blue Economic Zone and Yellow River Delta Efficient Ecological Economic Zone. The base gradually formed 5 research directions of the Yellow River Delta’s culture history, economic history, social history, cultural industry, cultural education, set up established corresponding scientific research teams, and had a well-established track record in scientific studies.

       Since its establishment, the Yellow River Delta Cultural Research Institute, under the correct leadership of the Shandong provincial Party Committee, the Provincial Department of Education, Department of Culture, Binzhou municipal government and Binzhou University party with strong support, in the joint efforts of the majority of the humanities and social sciences researchers, with discipline construction as the center, has made gratifying achievements. In recent years, the Institute has undertaken different kinds of projects of more than 90, among which 7 are national research projects, 33 provincial projects, 30 city level projects, 29 college-level project, 13horizontal cooperation projects; brought out 33 academic books, and more than 150 papers, established a dedicated cultural research section of the Yellow River Delta culture in Guangming Daily; established dedicated cultural-historical research sections of the Yellow River Delta in Dongyue Tribune and Knowledge of Literature and History, and published a series of articles on economic, social and cultural history of the Yellow River Delta. Journal of Binzhou University has long established a dedicated section for researches on the Yellow River Delta; the researching accomplishments has been conferred more than 50 honors and rewards including Outstanding Academic Achievement Award of Social Science, Shandong Province, Mount Tai Arts Award, the Construction of Spiritual Civilization of the Excellent Project Award, Shandong Provincial Soft Science Outstanding Achievement Award, Outstanding Science and Arts and Culture in Shandong province Achievement Award, Colleges and Universities in Shandong Province Outstanding Achievement Award, Binzhou Social Sciences Outstanding Achievement Award, Binzhou City Cultural Award. The the Yellow River delta cultural innovation project was first awarded by the Shandong provincial government for cultural innovation. In 2009 and 2013, the Yellow River Delta Culture Research team was named the research innovation team and advanced research collective for two consecutive sessions by Binzhou University.
        Insisting on the philosophy of “Opening up, Communicating, Cooperating, Competing”, the Institute is committed to improving the Yellow River Delta culture literature information retrieval system and the Yellow River Delta Culture information center during the 13th “Five Year Plan”. By nursing a deeper relationship with Shandong University Research Institute of cultural heritage, Qilu Culture Research Center, Research Center of Yellow River Civilization and Sustainable Development, Henan University, and other organizations and institutes, we will continue to make new breakthroughs in researches on the Yellow River Delta’s culture history, economic history, social history, cultural industry, cultural education, etc., thus contributing to the development of Shandong Peninsula Blue Economic Zone and Yellow River Delta Efficient Ecological Economic Zone, and the transformation into a high-level and application-oriented university.
