On the morning of May 11th, a group of eight people from the “Xingzhi Qilu-French Youth Study Tour Group in Shandong” from the University of Lorraine in France visited our school. The group is led by Professors Stanislas Denham and Sylvie Blake. The visiting and exchange symposium was held in the Lixue Lecture Hall. Wang Fangzheng, Vice Director of Binzhou municipal People’s Congress and President of of Binzhou General Branch of the Zhi Gong Party, and Li Weinian, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of our school attended the symposium and made speeches. The symposium was presided over by Sun Gaoliang, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the Binzhou Foreign Affairs Office.
Wang Fangzheng delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the municipal government and briefly introduced the basic situation and general development of Binzhou City. Li Weinian warmly welcomed the French youth study tour group and introduced the school’s educational development by using the three keywords of “strengths” “characteristics” and “profoundness”. He pointed out that this year is the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France and also the China-France Year of Cultural Tourism. The visit of the youth delegation from University of Lorraine is a positive response and implementation of the consensus reached by our two countries’ leaders. He hopes that Shandong University of Aeronautics and University of Lorraine can take this opportunity to further enhance understanding, deepen friendship, promote exchanges, and expand cooperation. Professor Stanislas, on behalf of the visiting group, expressed his gratitude for the warm reception from Binzhou City and our school. He was deeply impressed by the school’s rapid development and changes in recent years, and he hopes that such study tours can accelerate Sino-France youth cultural exchanges and achieve mutual pursuits. During the meeting, the heads from School of Foreign Languages of our school and IAE Nancy School of the University of Lorraine jointly signed a memorandum of friendly and cooperative exchange.
Before the symposium, the cultural exchange activity of “Sino-France Youth Meeting with Songs” was held in Room 201 of the School of Foreign Languages. Six young students from the University of Lorraine in France and more than 30 French majors from our school had a warm and enthusiastic discussion and exchange, and they also visited the Flying College and the campus together.
The heads from the International Exchange and Cooperation Office and School of Foreign Languages, some teachers, students and relevant personnel from Binzhou Municipal Foreign Affairs Office attended the event.
